DISC - Taking Flight
Talent and training don't guarantee results - communication fit does! People who "adapt their communication style" perform. Talking in a way that doesn’t resonates, stalls.
Let’s talk today

What drives competence in your business?

Skills and systems matter, but behavioural intelligence is what turns capability into results. When people understand how they and others work best, performance follows. When teams operate blind to their differences, even talented people underdeliver.

Taking Flight Learning® uses the proven DISC framework to help you understand how people naturally work, communicate, and make decisions.

Why it matters

In growing businesses, you can’t afford miscommunication or misaligned teams. Understanding behavioural styles is what converts competence into collaboration and friction into high-performing synergy.

And unlike vague “soft skills,” i it’s practical and immediately applicable.

Individual Insight

Each individual gets a report showing:

  • Natural behavioural style – How you naturally communicate, make decisions, and work
  • Potential difficulties and blind spots – Behaviours that may be challenging for their style and areas requiring extra attention or energy

Actionable development insights – Specific strategies to leverage strengths, adapt style, and communicate effectively with others

Team and organisational insight

Linking individual results shows:

  • Which motivators are dominant in the team
  • Where disconnection or resistance is hiding
  • How aligned people are with your mission

What you learn

By completing a 15-minute assessment, Taking Flight® reveals:

How each person naturally works – their core behavioural style and preferences (eagle, parrot, dove or owl)

How they communicate best – Whether they’re direct, enthusiastic, thoughtful, or analytical

What causes friction – what styles and clashes create misunderstanding and potential conflict

How to work with them – tailored communication, delegation and collaboration strategies

Real results: marketing agency case study

A mid-sized digital marketing agency with the following teams: creative, account management, analytics.

The Problem

Experiencing significant internal friction and conflict between them.

The creative team felt steamrolled by the account management team. Whilst the analytics team felt excluded from strategic decisions. Projects were delayed, client satisfaction was dropping, and employee turnover had increased by 40% in one year.

The Fix

Agency brought in Taking Flight for all employees. It identified that the Creative Team were primarily Parrots and Doves, the Account management team were mostly eagles and that the analytics team were owls.

Key Discoveries

  • Creative Director (Parrot) realised that their enthusiastic brainstoring style overwhelmed the Senior Analyst (Owl) who needed time to process ideas
  • Account Director (Eagle) understood why his direct, fast paced communication felt aggressive to the Design Lead (Dove) who needed collaboration
  • Project teams were unintentionally stacked with similar styles creating blind spots

Implemented Solutions

  • Restructured project team to include a balance of all styles
  • Modified meeting format
    • Agendas sent 24 hours in advance (for Owl)
    • Brainstorming time (for Parrots)
    • Structured decision making (for doves)
    • Established clear actions (for Eagles)
  • Adapted communication styles: account managers slowed down to be more collaborative with creative teams

Results

  • Employee turnover dropped from 40% to 8%
  • Project completion time improved by 14%
  • Client satisfaction scores increased from 72% to 89%
  • Revenue grew by 23%
